AudiOdyssey is an experimental computer game designed to be accessible to both the visually impaired community and mainstream gamers. The user stars as Vinyl Scorcher, an up-and-coming DJ, on his quest to get club patrons dancing. Swinging the Nintendo Wii controller to the beat, Vinyl lays down the various component tracks of a song, and keeps the party jumping. If he does an especially good job, he can even freestyle! But beware - if dancers get too rowdy, they’re likely to bump into the turntables, messing up Vinyl’s tracks. Think you have what it takes?

For the Wii, Goedde says, “it’s all about accessibility. I want to make sure that my six year old nephew can come over and play the game with me, straight away. Our goal is to make it so that he can pick it up, play it, have some success and some fun - but at the same time, a golfer or a gamer can get all the depth that they want out of it. That’s a challenge that the whole industry has to take on with Wii, and EA is making a lot of changes to how we develop games in order to meet that challenge.”
The Wii version of Tiger Woods, arguably the EA Sports game most obviously suited to the controller, will be a fine test of the company’s mettle in that regard. From what we’ve seen, it’s shaping up to be a very interesting progression over its last effort in the field - and if not, perhaps, a “gamer’s game”, then quite possibly just the thing to get your dad waving his Wiimote again this autumn.

Caught off-guard with the success of the Wii and looking for a quick fix, several publishers have tacked motion controls on to their existing games. It hasn’t turned out well. The difference with Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition is twofold: the game they started with is a masterpiece, and the Wiimote controls are implemented perfectly.

This is an excerpt from the Review of the Nintendo Wii game Mario Party 8 by Vooks
All in all, Hudson’s 8th iteration of the Mario Party series is a solid outing, there’s heaps to do, it’s amazing fun with your mates and it is a great ice breaker for anyone playing. Unfortunately, the game does suffer graphically but it’s nothing you’ve haven’t seen before on Nintendo’s newest system. For fans of the previous games, this may be a bit much of the same to you, but for people who haven’t really touched the franchise since it’s first foray onto the Gamecube (Mario Party 4 or 5), it could be the breathe of fresh air that the series was desperately needing. All in all Hudson have definitely done a good job in making the game fresh enough to utilise the WiiMote controls without making them stale and repetitive.

10. Team Ninja’s Itagaki interview excerpt: “(Note: he wants to see Pikmin 3 on Wii…) I think it’s (Wii) a very interesting piece of hardware, and it’d be interesting for us to challenge that area as well. The Wii has kind of carved its own niche within the home console arena. It’s almost in an entire category by itself. I do think that it’s totally different from the DS, though…I think it would depend on how you make it (a hard-core action title on Wii). You would really have to design it for the strengths of the hardware. If you used the kind of control scheme that most developers are using right now for the Wii and tried to do a really hard-core action game, I think people would just throw up their hands and say “No, we can’t deal with that”. The Wii has its own reason for existence. If you don’t adapt what you’re doing to fit that, then there’s not much point in bringing an action game to the platform. (regarding possible Wii action game) I’m currently brain-training about that right now (laughs).”
11. Eiji Aonouma would love to make a “Wind Waker” for the Wii.
