Nintendo, which doesn’t lose money on Wii hardware, sold 3.2 million units of its new hardware in 2006. Net profit for Nintendo’s October to December quarter was up 40 percent to 77.57 billion yen with sales up 75 percent to $3.4 billion, thanks mainly to DS hardware and software sales.

Nintendo Co., Ltd. today announced that strong sales of Nintendo DS hardware and software and the successful launch of Wii have led to record consolidated sales and operational profit for the nine-month period ending Dec. 31, 2006.
