This is an excerpt from the Review of the Nintendo Wii game Super Paper Mario by GameDaily

Super Paper Mario looks a lot more exciting than it actually is. Nintendo fans will revel in the 2-D-meets-3-D world of Mario and company, and the recent drought of good Wii games makes this a welcome addition to any library. Yet, Nintendo drowns players in boring dialogue, and the ability to switch the 2-D world to 3-D makes the game too easy. It still provides some enjoyment, but nothing that’ll last for more than a week.

This is an excerpt from the Review of the Nintendo Wii game Meet the Robinsons by IGN

Meet the Robinsons is – at its heart – a movie/game. The gameplay is basic, but it takes inspiration from more fleshed out titles, and it all works well. The license is the primary focus of the title (obviously), so you’ll spend just as much time living in the world, interacting with the characters, and watching movie-inspired cuts-scenes as you will engaging, nail-biting gameplay, but that’s part of what makes the sub-genre work. Meet the Robinsons has the overall look of the film, the original voice actors make an appearance, and as an extension to the movie it’s a fine choice for younger gamers or families. There’s no true Wii functionality added in, and the only difference between versions is the poly count and graphical detail. There’s very little true innovation in the design, but a mix of entertaining gadgets keeps the experience from becoming mundane. All in all Meet the Robinsons is a solid effort, lacks some of the overall polish of games with a higher budget and longer development time, but it fulfills its goal of tying the film world to an interactive medium; an exact definition to what we consider a “good” game.

Steven Spielberg working on Wii, This is and Excerpt  from GameDaily with EA Los Angeles VP and General Manager Neil Young interview

GameDaily BIZ: We met with you back at E3 to talk about Spielberg and the projects, but is there anything we can talk about, any more details that have developed since the projects were first announced?

Neil Young: I can’t really share any game details, but recall our original announcements was for three projects. Well, two of those are underway right now in the studio.

The first one, what I can tell you is what you’d expect, sort of, from a Steven Spielberg production. Steven’s stories are intimate stories that take place around huge, world-changing events… sort of, big stories shown through the eyes of a small group. Doug Church is producing it…

The second project is something Lou Castle is producing, one of the great producers in this industry, and that’s one of the products we’re building for the Wii. Very exciting and interesting…

Steven’s in the studio once a week, usually from one to four hours, stops by 8:30 and leaves midday and spends a good amount of time with us. It’s a very close, collaborative relationship… it’s wonderful… he’s a wonderful guy, incredibly creative… it’s a learning experience working with Steven…

This is an excerpt from the Review of the Nintendo Wii Game World Series of Poker: Tournament of Champions by IGN

World Series of Poker: Tournament of Champions easily ranks amongst the best videogame poker titles out there, and depending on what you’re looking for, may indeed be the best. Its AI is generally very solid, the presentation is all-around great (even if the animations don’t match the bet amount in any way), and it’s set up in an easy to play manner. If you’re looking for a good poker title, definitely check this one out.

Editor’s Note: Chris Roper’s closing comments pertain to the multi-console versions, and were written pre-Wii release.

This is an excerpt from the Review of the Nintendo Wii Game World Series of Poker: Tournament of Champions 2007 by NWR

I didn’t want to learn, though. I wanted to play a video game. WSOP is a good way learn poker, but not so good if you want to win first and ask questions later, like most gamers do. That tells me that poker doesn’t have the substance to hold up a video game on its own (unless there are 41 other games and online play to support it). If you look at Tournament of Champions 2007 as an aid on your quest to become the next multi-millionaire, then it’s worth a little something. If not, dump the $40 you would have spent on it in the slots the next time you hit up Vegas. You’ll have better a better chance of winning that way.

This is an excerpt from the Hands On of the Nintendo Wii Game Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 by GameSpot

The Tiger Woods golf games from EA Sports have always let you step into the shoes of one of the world’s greatest golfers, regardless of your skill with a real club. But now that the game is showing up on the Wii, you can’t hide behind your analog stick anymore. Instead, you actually have to pick up a remote and swing it like you would a real golf club. No matter how good your in-game stats are, there’s no compensating for an ugly swing. So it’s time to start practicing your follow-through, because Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 is going to put your swing to the test.

This is an excerpt from the Review of the Nintendo Wii Game Need For Speed: Carbon by NWR

EA should be commended for the Wii version of Need For Speed Carbon. Instead of porting it over without much thought, they took the time to get something working that took advantage of the Wii’s strengths. The result is a very good game that you should take a look at if you’re on the hunt for post-launch software.

This is an excerpt from the Review of the Nintendo Wii Game Call of Duty 3 by Wiire Gamers

Even though the controls take time to learn and there are a few annoying events in the game, the amazing visuals and realism balance it out. COD3 is a decent first person shooter, but probably the best World War II game out there just for the intense environments the game puts you in. I would recommend renting the game first, and playing it a couple days to decide if the controls are a little too much to take in. If you can get past the first couple of hours, then you are in good shape and the game will start to look a little more playable. Now troops, meet back at the Wii station in 2100 hours, grab your remotes, place your finger on the trigger, and teach those Nazi’s who’s in charge!
