Metroid Prime 3: Corruption details from the recent issue of Play magazine:
- First level - You are attacked on a spaceship while meeting with the ship’s captain…action packed

- Play feels motion controls work better than dual joystick

- Super sensitive pointer in “advanced” mode

- Beam stacking ala Super Metroid

- Visor switch: Hold minus and flick Wiimote in certain directions

- Boss fight with Ridley at the end of the first level. Excellent difficulty curve by the time you reach the boss.

- Back tracking in MP3:C makes more sense than in previous Primes

- Extra development time was to give the game more polish. Nintendo wanted “Twilight Princess” levels of polish. Game is focused on Metroid fans and hardcore gamers, but still accessible to newcomers due to controls.

- Second level - floating city focused on exploration

- Larger environments, bloom lighting, better textures than Prime 2

- Corruption Mode not available in demo

- Play says it could be the biggest revolution in FPS gaming since Halo.

This is some new info from the “The Official UK Playstation 2 Magazine” related to the game Manhunt 2 coming to the Wii, PS2 and y PSP

• Cuts & Bruises – From looking at the screenshots it shows Daniel with a few cuts here and there in select shots, implying that a similar damage system from the first game remains intact.

• Enemies - Foes have less scripted patrols with improved A.I, making them harder to kill.

• Guns - Guns are only a major factor later in the game, much like the original. Although it does look as though members of ‘The Project’ are prone to turning up whenever and are not specific to one location, much like the Cerberus in the original game.

• H.U.D - Energy bar goes dark blue when hiding, the radar is located on the bottom left of the screen, it again monitors the noise you make.

• Judy - We already knew Judy worked at ‘The Honey Pot’ brothel, the magazine now reveals that Judy is also a ‘technician’ for ‘The Project’. This explains why Daniel was looking for her; the magazine then goes on to (surprisingly) state that Judy dies before providing Daniel with the information.

• Level Information - Within ‘The Honey Pot’ brothel there is a ‘whore going to work on a ‘client’. The way it is described it seems to me as though this is visible rather than just being audio, however, it may still be the case. When breaking glass you have to time it right to be effective.

• The asylum looks to be full of character, one cell has a inmate that has hung himself, the folks at Rockstar have even gone as far as placing the knocked over chair that he kicked from under himself. There are ‘crap-caked walls’, presumably from Daniels poop-lobbing cell mate.

• The Project - The full title of ‘The Project’ is ‘The Pickman Project’, named after its founding professor Pickman.

• Weapons - The syringe is the first weapon you come across; you shortly thereafter pick up the ballpoint pen. The plastic bag and syringe one use items however the biro and glass shard aren’t. Baseball bat is wrapped in barbed wire, not spiked like the removed bat from the first game. Previously thought pliers are actually wire cutters, they serve multiple purposes including cutting your way into the ventilation shaft at the brothel and of course executions.

• Weapon Storage – We previously knew about the menu system that pauses the game, the magazine now adds to that by explaining that heavy weapons are placed on Daniels back, medium around his waste and small in his hands, they also say ‘with room for a few other bits and bobs’. So that means either the game pausing menu is for quick access to weapons rather than shuffling through them, or it means you can store everything at once and choose to keep one of each variety on you at once

Official Nintendo Magazine gave Sonic And The Secret Rings an 81/100 and they did a Q&A session.

How does it controll? Do they work well?

Yup, the controls work well enough. As you probably know, you control Sonic by holding the Remote on its side and tilting it left and right. For the most part this is accurate, and you do feel in control most of the time.

It is alot like a 2d game, right? It’s on ‘tracks’.

Well, yeah, sort of. When we say it’s like the 2D games we mean it takes the game back to its roots with just fast gameplay and simple controls. We don’t mean it plays just like the 2D games because they offered more freedom (you could walk eithe rforwards or backwards). It’s maybe not the best example because it makes it sound worse than it is, but it’s more like the bonus stage in Sonic 2 or Sonic Rush.

Does it have multi player?

Not in the main Adventure mode. It does allow up to four players in Party mode though.

Do you find that the sheer speed of the game increases the difficulty? In some videos it looks far too fast to be able to react to things quickly enough.

Yes and no. Many of the times when it looks like it’s going stupidly fast you’re usually not in control (it’s a set-piece or something). The game deliberately starts things off quite slow (well, slowish) so you can get used to the controls, then when you later unlock speed upgrades the game will progressively get faster.

Is it as long a Zelda Wii?

No. Nothing is.

An excerpt from a Game Informer interview with Hudson Entertainment’s Director of Marketing John Lee by Game Informer:

GI: What are Hudson’s other plans for next-generation consoles?

Lee: We have quite a number of things planned, so you’ll have to stay tuned. We’ll often times make announcements on our Web site before it goes out to masses first, so definitely check out www.HudsonEntertainment.com. Though mind you, our definition of next gen development is quite a bit different than most companies. We aren’t typically out to push specs. We always go back to the basic tenet that gaming needs to be fun. We try to innovate around the concept of fun. So for us, next-gen gaming includes the DS, the Wii and even XBLA. We’re interested in injecting new gameplay concepts into the playing field, and that isn’t defined by better-looking graphics; new and interesting things that you can do on the Wii. New and interesting things you can do over a network, playing against other people. New and interesting ways of buying games that you couldn’t do before. These are the changes in the market place that really get us excited the most!

GI: During his heyday, did anyone from Hudson ever think they’d see a Bonk game on a Nintendo system?

Lee: Actually, Bonk did come out on the SNES many years ago. I have it on my desk, and just finished it last month. It was called, get ready for this: SUPER BONK! Actually, one of the biggest questions I had when I started at Hudson in 2005 was: What in the world ever happened to Bonk? Here was this character that so many people loved. The game won numerous awards, sold like gangbusters, duked it out in a three-way war with Mario and Sonic, and was pretty darn funny as well. Yet by 1995, he just disappeared… And no new games were seen in the U.S. since then. This has led me on a quest to find out more, and what I’m discovering is very fascinating. I’m sure I’ll share it with you one day. If nothing else, the fact that Bonk is selling so well on VC, and has already shown up on two covers on two different gaming magazines in the past year, is another indication that he’s still very popular.

Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid creator) in a recent issue of GamePro magazine let us know this:

You may hear Blu-ray is huge, gigantic, 20 GB or so, but that’s not really that big to us. One basic [gameplay] with HD visual and 5.1 sound takes up so much space that the capacity will become too small in no time.

Enough with Sony! What about the Wii?!

Wii! [laughs] Yes, I want to do it. I’m saying this everyday. But first, I have to face this giant that is called Metal Gear Solid 4, so until I’m finished with that, I can’t do anything.

But the Wii isn’t HD! It doesn’t have 4D!!

We’re not the ones who are saying we want HD. I’m not interested, myself, about HD at all. MGS games tend not to care about how clean the screen looks…we deliberately make the graphics look dirtier to give the atmosphere more life.
