While not a must for the avid golf gamer, Super Swing Golf is certainly a game that will have all breeds of players hitting the links and having a genuinely jolly time. The multiplayer modes are certainly good for a competition amongst friends, but the time consuming campaign and lackluster graphics will wear pretty thin for the serious gamer. Maybe I’m spoiled, but I need more in a golf game than cartoon caddies and a morally congested storyline about courage and kindness. Pangya!

This game would be a lot of fun even if it didn’t have Wiimote control. With Wii controls added, it makes the game even better…by a lot. The control setup they have works perfectly…I haven’t had any issues at all. I am talking driving, putting, all of it works fantastically. There is an option to play with button presses, but I have no idea why anyone would do that…unless you are too tired to stand up! Unlike Wii Sports Golf, SSG does a much better job of making sure you are taking a real golf stance/swing. The Wiimote calculates for how you naturally turn your arm/hand when you are swinging a golf club. I sat down in a chair to see if I could fool the controller. I managed to get the power bar up to 3 quarters full…and then I had to twist my hand into an awkward position. Then I realized that I had no idea how to bring my hand back down to convince the game I had taken my swing. I am sure it could be done, and it can be fooled…but it wouldn’t be fun!
The best part about the control setup is the power lock feature. You point on screen to the “shot” button, and then drop the Wiimote down like a club. Then you begin your backswing. Once you reach the amount of power you want, you hold the A button to lock the power meter. After that, you continue to hold A and finish your swing. It is a great idea, this way the Wiimote accurately gets your power, and then it is up to you to follow through in a straight-forward manner so that you don’t send the ball flying to the left or right. I am honestly very impressed with the control scheme, and as I said before, it adds a huge amount of fun to the game.

Over all I say this is an excellent golf game that gives a rather different experience from the other normal ones out there. Fans of Sony`s Minna no Golf series by all means pick this game up. I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed! Great characters, original courses, loads of items, and an intuitive control system, what more could you ask for? Also one thing that was a very nice surprise is that you can get 2 free balls from the official Swing Golf Pangya Japanese website via password entry. It’s great to see the company showing appreciation to its customers with the free gift. With so much to do and unlock in Swing Golf Pangya, this is a game that’s sure to keep players busy for hours on end.
Import Friendly?
Swing Golf Panya is totally import friendly. Users can have the bare minimum to almost no Japanese language knowledge and still get by enjoying the game. Everything is pretty much straight forward and there are no odd missions that would require you to actually read anything, except for perhaps the effects of consumable items and such. Asides from that, this is a game that anyone can pick up and start enjoying right away.
Pros
* Great artwork design in characters, items and clothing.
* The whole fantasy feel is a nice step away from all the other realism golf games out there.
* Each character has there own storyline in the single player mode.
* Lots of varied courses.
* Easy to learn controls. Swinging the remote like a golf club really gets you into the game.Cons
* The slope display for putting can be a little difficult to understand.
* The putting system could have been a little more user friendly like Minna no Golf
* AI is rather difficult at times, although not sure if this is totally a bad thing. But it causes frustration never the less.
* At times the hit sensing for the swing seems to go off. Although I assume this is just an issue with twisting the wrist slightly on the down swing.
