Rockstar Games announces Bully: Scholarship Edition for the Xbox 360™ and Wii
New York, NY - July 19, 2007 - Rockstar Games is proud to announce that Bully: Scholarship Edition is coming to the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the Wii™ home video game system from Nintendo this Winter.
Both the Wii and Xbox 360 versions will retain the wit and deep gameplay of the previously released PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system title and will boast additional new content. We wanted to thank everyone who has taken the time to contact us about Manhunt 2, which we had been planning to release on PlayStation 2, PSP and Nintendo Wii. As you know, Manhunt 2 was effectively banned around much of the world, after it was refused certification in the United Kingdom, prohibited in Ireland, and denied an M rating in the United States.
We are very proud of Manhunt 2 and believe it builds on what the team accomplished with the first title in the series. The game was developed as a horror experience, and to be an M rated title, aligning it with similar horror content created in other forms of media. Unlike many other people, we do not think video games should be singled out for special treatment from the authorities. We hope to have more information for you soon, but in the meantime, we wanted you to know how much we value all of your messages of support.

Without the last game’s main character, the “director” talking to you, and the gameshow setting, Manhunt 2 may not initially seem very Manhunt-ish. But look closer and you’ll find very similar gameplay. It’s essentially a sequel in the way Final Fantasy games are sequels — new cast and location, but with the same backbone that established the series in the first place.
The big shift here is setting. While the first Manhunt played out like a game version of The Running Man, the sequel puts players into a “garbage dump” asylum (as Rockstar describes it) in control of a character that has been experimented on. Naturally, he has to escape, figure out what’s going on, and brutally murder a number of people along the way. (See, it’s a Manhunt game after all.)

SPOnG has heard a bizarre rumour of late that Rockstar may be looking to bring the next iteration of the Grand Theft Auto series – presumably entitled GTA 5 – to Nintendo’s family friendly Wii console.
SPOnG put it to a Rockstar rep the other day that we’d heard GTA 5 might be Wii-bound and they responded with what we can only describe as a stifled giggle. Read into that what you will.
