This is an excerpt from the Review of the Nintendo Wii game The Godfather: Blackhand Edition by IGN

The Godfather: Blackhand Edition isn’t a perfect game – not by a long shot. The title suffers from the same technical limitations as any other GTA clone out there (pop-in and sketchy AI certainly rings a bell), and the preconceived notion of “Yet another GTA game” may take away from the product’s more impressive points for some gamers, and that’s a shame. When it all boils down, though, The Godfather is a great first step on Wii, as it uses more than 25 gestures, IR aiming, and has a ton of features above the original game in the form of new items, missions, gameplay modes (favors and blackmailing specifically), and RPG elements. More important than any list of numbers and features though, is the fact that The Godfather is just fun to play. It’s fun to beat the tar out of store owners with the Wii remote. It’s fun to throw guys through windows and off ledges with actual shoving motions. Hell it’s even kind of fun to honk a car’s horn by pushing forward on the nunchuk. The game has its flaws, it isn’t perfect, but it has more options, features, and depth that the previous versions, and it’s simply a fun game to play.

SPOnG has heard a bizarre rumour of late that Rockstar may be looking to bring the next iteration of the Grand Theft Auto series – presumably entitled GTA 5 – to Nintendo’s family friendly Wii console.
SPOnG put it to a Rockstar rep the other day that we’d heard GTA 5 might be Wii-bound and they responded with what we can only describe as a stifled giggle. Read into that what you will.

Nintendo released a press announcement about upcoming games.Nintendo suggests that this news item is not about the Wii, but it may contain a secret, encrypted message detailing the launch of the Nintendo Wii.

The folks over at Gaming Target say they have cracked the code, stating the the Wii will be released on October 2nd.

Here’s the full list (all games are DS games unless otherwise noted):

Oct. 9: Clubhouse Games
Oct. 16: Nintendogs: Dalmatian & Friends
Oct. 23: Magical Starsign
Oct. 30: Pokémon Ranger
Oct. 30: Children of Mana
Nov. 6: Elite Beat Agents
Nov. 6: Final Fantasy V Advance (GBA)
Nov. 13: Yoshi’s Island 2
Dec. 4: Custom Robo Arena
Dec. 4: Kirby: Squeak Squad

There was no direct mention of anything Wii related, but Nintendo did include this cryptic line in their announcement: “Perhaps the secret to the launch information for Wii is somehow encoded in the text of this news item.” And I believe they are being serious.

The fourth quarter begins on October 1. Now look at the list. At least one game is released every Monday in the fourth quarter except for the following dates: October 2, November 20 and November 27.

November 27 is after Black Friday, so it’s out. November 20 is after the launch of the PS3, so that’s out too. That leaves us with October 2.
