Youtube Blocking Wii Users

When the Wii Opera browser launched it was capable of working with YouTube. Then all of a sudden the next day it stopped working for no reason. Luckily the support was not removed from Opera. However it would appears as if YouTube is blocking the Wii for some reason. Here is what the Opera team had to say about this problem:

The Opera browser on Wii does support playback of movies on Youtube. Youtube seems to have broken something tonight, however, blocking Wii users. We will investigate and contact them about it.

that’s some crap.

Im using the Wii’s browser right now and I have found that if you search for a vid on google search and click on a direct link to a youtube vid, it works fine.

It is either that Youtube dosen’t want to have to deal with EVEN more people using thier servers and this is on Something that can’t play the vids or it’s a error.

An error doesnt seem likely…

Has anyone checked if its working again today?

Downloaded Opera this morning to the wii and we were watching “dick in a box” on youtube, on the wii, just 20 minutes ago. We got to it by going directly to the youtube site then searching for the vid. We also watched the bing crosby - david bowie duet.

Surfed youtube with Wii this morning - no problems at all.

Its working fine for me I was just watching ask a ninja.

It probably has to do with the fact that there was a recent article which got dugg. It suggested going to http://peekvid.com/ for all your Wii movie needs. Any person would quickly realize that the movies on here violate copyright rules and most were hosted on youtube. (if you check now most of the movies no longer work and have been removed). Maybe youtube was not happy about all these wii referrals to these movies and decided to temporarly shut them down?

Maybe Opera fixed it up, or it was only temporary.

i just tried it, u can get on it but its totally differnt. you cant comment, rate, subscribe, see other peoples channels, and you dont even have a channel. luckily you can just search for a video on google or yahoo or what ever and it will take you to the GOOD youtube. and idk if its the same thing as it was in ‘04 but as of 11/15/08 its not the same.
