EasyNintendo.net spoke to Xavier Poix of Ubisoft in an exclusive interview which suggests that Wii is much more powerful then what was originally thought. The following is what was revealed in the interview in terms of specifications of the Wii:

CPU is comparable to an AthlonXP 2400+ to an AthlonXP 3000+. This new revelation shows that the clock speed is possibly between 2.0 Ghz to 2.2 Ghz but can perform much better as AthlonXP’s do.

GPU is comparable to an ATi Radeon X1400 and X1600. In comparison to the Xbox 360, the GPU on the 360 is sometimes compared to an X1800.

As for Red Steel it will have 4x Antialiasing and 8x Anisotropic Filtering.

Wii will have around 8 Pixel Pipelines (which suggests that if the GPU according to IGN was at 243Mhz, the number of MPixels is at 1944 compared to Gamecube’s 648).

GPU processes physics, in the sense that it takes a load off of the CPU. For EDRAM, 2MB for framebuffer, 2MB for Zbuffer and 4mb for texture cache.

RAM Speed at 640Mhz. Gamecube was at 325Mhz.

This Nintendo Wii specs are not official so take it as a fundamented wii rumor

EDram hummmmmm no its 1t sram dram is not suited to consoles 1t sram is lightning fast and free of bottle ,the doubling of the gpu pipes and a new tev unit and a dedicated physics thread ill put my left ball on being true if they are real witch i dont think they are we are looking at a kind of gamecube come 360 with big fill rates and zero bottle necks expect 360 level graphics with widescreen 480p support and loads of filtering and AA the only bit wii lacks is 720p but who cares ILL JUST FAKE IT WITH LG TVs x d engine 1/2 AS THAT UPSCALES 480P TO 720P ALLMOST PERFECTLY HD FOR FREE dont believe sonys hype

If this is true, and the price range is still $200-$250, then it’s certain death to Sony and Microsoft. As soon as these specs are confirmed, I’m sold. When can we preorder???

I seriously doubt this articles authentisity, however Ubisoft did make EasyNintendo.net pull the article… hmm.. who gave this interview anyway? If these are the specs on the Nintendo Wii, then it will be able to do a lot more than what was shown off at E3. Redsteel looked dated there. With the resolutions only topping out at 480p the Wii games should be comparable to 360 games in lower res. This was not the case though. I think the 729mhz GPU specs are more believeable at this point. I hope these specs are real, but I’m not going to count on it.

To almost confirm my doubt in this.. EasyNintendo seems like a forum very unlikely to get an exclusive interview with Barney the Purple Dionsaur. So it’s probably fake.
