wii sensor bar
In the New Nintendos Website we can see the new sensor bar in the image, is where all the movements and triggers will be sent, not wireless but still have a nice design.

so do you point at the sensor bar when you play or do you actually point at the screen. It would be kinda dumb if you did point it at the sensor bar cause they didnt needa do that with duck hunt and that was like 25 years ago

I was just curious, does the sensor bar connect into the TV or the Wii? Will I need to buy a new TV so I can connect the sensor bar to it and play? Nintendo rules.

Ok, here is a silly question, what about those ppl that have very large screens? (110in for example?) Will the bar still be able to accurately translate movement to those?

Some games use the sensor bar, other games do not. IIRC, Wii Bowling doesn’t use the bar. Zelda does.

Actually, I have problems with the sensor bar with my 50″ tv. If the sensor bar is more than 10 feet away (like they say you should stay under), the cursor on screen is very jerky sometimes and is very annoying. I had the bar on top of the tv to increase the line of sight, but because that adds even more distance, I may have to place it under the tv and still play the Wii from closer than my couch is from the tv.

My cat chewed through the sensor bar wire. I’ve tried to fix it like many power wires I’ve already had to fix, but I have been unsuccessful. Does anyone know how to fix it? Inside the insulation there are two small wires, a red one and a gold one. Both are wrapped in a paper material and are spiraling around one another. There are also two thin strings that spiral with the wires.

well from what i understand the WII sensor bar is just an IR transmitter as I’m sure many have seen in various sorts of you tube videos you can implement your own with any source of infra red light such as candles (not advised) you could alway if you have the know how wire a few in parallel for larger tv’s for a wider Ir output at wider angles/distance

You have to point at the sensor bar in the games that require it, you do not point at your tv in the middle with the controller the cursur will not show up there, its all the bar.

Shocked!!!

I can’t belive the questions this site gets…Come on people, think before you ask. Maybe the Wii is too advanced for you…perhaps just playing snakes & Ladders would be safer.

The ‘red’ and ‘gold’ wires are coated and this needs to be removed before you can repair a break. Using a lighter simply burn off the coating. It’s not as dangerous as it sounds and only takes about 30 seconds to do all 4 wires. Hey Presto you now have copper wire which makes a much better connection and your sensor bar is repaired.
