From IGN Mailbag

“An interesting side note, developers tell me that third party SD card support may be out for launch. Most third parties apparently don’t have access to the Wii SD card bay yet, just as Nintendo has yet to provide libraries for online support. In short, it doesn’t look like we’ll be storing our third party game save files to SD card and bringing the data over to a friend’s house during the first couple months of Wii’s release.”

as long as its not third party as in mad catz, they’ll actually be useful. I can’t stand non first party memory cards after losing the save files for more than a few games(including three final fantasy games)

Uh, nodwarf what this means is no SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS other than Nintendo will be able to use SD Cards to store game saves right now, “3rd Party” in this case refers to developers other than Nintendo and second party developers (i.e. Namco is a 3rd party developer)

what this means is when you play a Nintendo game (actually published by Nintendo) you will be able to save it to an SD Card, but if you try to play a game by any other company (other than second party developers, like Rare used to be) they will not be able to be saved to the SD Card and instead will have to use the internal memory, until Nintendo releases the software to 3rd party developers so they can use it
