Here is an article on Daily Game believes that Nintendo will save the videogame industry. You can check some here:

So what happens as we get older and stop playing games, and our children aren’t as interested in videogames as we were at their age? We grew up with Pong, Centipede and Pac-Man. We graduated to Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros. and Paperboy. Games grew up with us, so it’s to be expected that the average age of a gamer increased along with the age of the industry. But with few mainstream games now appropriate for a younger audience, what happens when the industry wakes up and notices its bread-and-butter generation is too old to play games, and that the next generation, the only one that can keep the industry going, has been ignored for so long that it’s not playing games either?

That’s where Nintendo comes in. Like a knight in shining armor, Nintendo is going against the grain in this Xbox 360/PS3/Wii console war, and it could very well save the videogame industry in the process. Miyamoto-san isn’t afraid to work on games that appeal to kids, and he seems to actually prefer it to the dark games favored by id Software and Epic Games. Iwata-san isn’t against trying something completely new, even somewhat wacky, with a control mechanic that will get people’s attention and stir creativity. And Reggie-san (sorry, it just fits) isn’t afraid to defy conventional wisdom and shun horsepower for the promise of an inexpensive system that working families can afford.

First of all Epic doesn’t really make dark games. Yeah yeah they made gears of war but really what is dark about ugly pretty graphics? Dark is a feeling… do you really get that from epic games? These game companies don’t know dark. Id on the other hand did make the first quake, which was surreal and very dark even doom 1 was darker than most games. Even Epic was trying to out do those guys. I guess it’s about doing what you enjoy. Yeah doom 3 was dark literally oyeah bioshock is pretty dark also. I think the new zelda is going to suprise alot of people. I think alot of people already know that since every one is looking forward to it. Plus too dark doesn’t sell as well as a normally balanced game unless it starts out with a cult following like doom did.

About the spec thing please read iwata’s interview on the wii site.
You guys along with alot of web blogs are a little wrong about the getting rid of high specs to focus on game play idea. That is silly thinking. They set a goal for the price which was smart(truthfully you want many people to buy your console why put a barer in front of them?). They met that goal along with others. THE HD idea which is mostly resolution based was not worth setting a barer in front of a potential gamer. Since buying into some one else key selling point, like the HD movement, would only go into help there agendas which are not rooted in games this would cause a real game company to fail (example sega and MS relationship ends up killing sega you don’t see them working together any more). Nintendo simply had another plan which IMO is alot healthier for the industry and them selves. They want to make gaming more approachable to every one and even make it accepted by non-gamers due to the type of games they plan to make along with the type of console they just made..

In doing so they made the industry think more about game play and controllers, which truely are the keys to the past and current successful games. Even atari knew that until they got too big headed.

Now back to specs. Sony a MS both know that true Next gen graphic will evolve better shader systems, high resolutions but most importantly a way higher polygon count. I don’t see any vechicles or in game characters having 100-500 thousand polygons. Yeah you could ask why would a game character need that many well go to any 3d post board and you’ll see stuff that the industry needs. Oringinal cool stuff, which is what the industry really really needs. One reason why we keep getting sequels is because they are basicly solution to the problems of polygon count issues. MS and Sony would like for you to think that or even ignore the fact that a true next gen system would easily blow the current systems out of the water polygon wise and you would see a lot of band new characters because the polygon limit would have been raised. The same thing happen when the 8 bit got crushed by 16 bit. This is partly why the ps2 also won, even though other systems had better graphics they where only marginally better.

The industry is about cool stuff like.
Cool art.
Cool game play.
and cool gadgets.

HD helps display cool art but really if your going to increase the cost to make HD content how come the increase in possibilities (pay off) is so small. What I’m saying is how come we can’t get in game models with true high resolution geometry. The CPUs in the HD systems are geared for true high resolution models yet the GPU might not be ready for that since they are solution that only help out put higher resolution graphics, there is no real boost in polygon out put really. Yes it did rise but really if it did how come we are not seeing models closer too the ones on Panzar.com or even my own prelime work over at Lasarts.com. I think nintendo sees the trade off… High prices for some thing that really isn’t going to help as much as people would have you believe. The verdt is still out though. GOW war was one of my last hopes for the xbox 360.

You would need a system that has enough ram for a few high resolution models and that takes up about 4 gigs of ram. You will then need to out put to a good resolution unless you have good AA. That means your GPU will then need over a gig of ram.

With the manufactureing o0ops I mean the tech guys over at Sony could have easily made a solid state HD for a very large pool of ram, maybe even 10 gigs. Then add a sprinkle of mosys in there and put it all on a chip high density style. There is one element that truly ensures next gen graphics. I would have gladly paid full PS3 price for that.

This generation is just the upgrade… So what are the console makers going to do next gen after the HD horse is beaten to death? Will we get real next gen polygon counts? Well at least Nintendo has it’s controller… Truthfully will we see a NVIDIA Quadro Plex 1000 – Model I in a real next gen system in 5 years? I would have to say if any one is ready to do that then it would have to be ati since amd does own them now.

While the technology tries to catch up I’ll be playing game on a wii and pc till then.

Sorry about the long post
ok how about this… AN HD WII wait wait read thur the rant ok…

LOL

I just though of some thing.. what if nintendo releases an update of the Wii called Wii HD. With full HD out put and a sliable GPU where you could plug two wii consoles together to make it’s rendering engine even more powerful(two gpus), twice the download speed (two wireless modems downloading bittorrent like) and storage double the flash memory. All in an Sli delieverd type of system that the true hardcore players want. I mean this would be cool becuase this is nintendo’s first modular system design. Just look at it! I could even imagine a small rack mount of these systems. You wouldn’t have to remake your games ethier, although you could now offer premuim disk where the game has been reworked to explote an HD Wii with undeniable “next gen” HD gaming. Sli configs don’t required software to be remade. And with the Wii actualy costing alittle over 200 dollars that would make it around 400 dollars which is right in line with the xbox 360 yet still less than a ps3. Could this be done will this be done, how cool would it be if this was done!?

I mean nintendo did have the GC made by who panisonic right? It is also a known fact that most premium card preformance can be reached by sli-ing two budget cards together. If nintendo gave you this choice along with a possible VMD HD disk format to boot would you get one… The question is obviously to the HD tv crowd. Then every one could possibly be happy.

Hey use the above post to weed out fan boys ight…

It’s simple if nintendo had a HD system out would the other fanboys buy it? There is no question a wii slied together would be one hell of a system. Then think about “* componets being parrelled even further. They could just come out with a Super Wii…LOL or some thing like that or just call it the REV.. it, hardocre, every one thats a gamer already loves it but this setup would include the HD gamer also and is a possible strategy for nintendo too take if Hd gaming gets serious.

The reason why I bring this up is then the customer would decide which system they want to surport… a Normal Wii or a Wii HD… if the developers feel like this is slipting the market then they should make just normal Wii games because it would be supported by both systems. If they must have HD type games then they should take the same risk they are taking with the HD systems. Nintendo should think about this because it actualy goes in line with their current game boy strategies.

Example GB>GBA>DS>DS lite the oldest console can still be played by the newest… This way we can eat our HD cake and get our Wii on at the same time. Hey some one email reggie this one hell where is Iwatas email. I mean we are going to have two Wii’s in our house any way. I wouldn’t take any long than a year to figure this one out ethier.. ati already knows sli and IBM is good at networking cpus together…

Sorry I had too much too say but read the last one.. it’s good!

-HD wii- is a possiblity! It’s sorta like the cell CPU idea but better.. it won’t cost you 1200 dollars and you could have eight wiimotes hooked up to it for bomber man type games.

If FOLEDs take off then HD could make a strong come back… this would also make personal head set monitor way too afforable for nintendo to pass up… So after going thur that rabbit hole you find your self with a cooler version of the nintendo on project….
