zelda wii

A New rumor from Game Informer, states that the next Zelda Wii has already been under development for about a year (this sort of contradicts what the Iwata Asks interviews have been saying). The bottom line from the rumor is expect the next Zelda for Nintendo Wii sooner rather than later.

What surprises me is that people act like this is new news. Nintendo mentioned a Wii Zelda, before TP was being ported over and the system was even called Wii. Look TP has been done for over a year, and the port to Wii was not hard, the controls took a little time, but I’m sure the whole Zelda team wasn’t consummed by it. I would say that the next Zelda has probably been in development for 12-18 months at least. I’m just really hoping they can bring back the magic and upgrade the graphics, sound, and give us some voice acting worthy of the series this time around, and not do a knock off of TP. TP is the best Zelda ever, but even though it is on Wii, it is a Gamecube game. I love TP on Wii and wouldn’t have it any other way, but I knew they were working on a Wii Zelda because Nintendo said they were a looong time ago.

They should make a game where you’re a Goron and you get to roll up into a ball and then run over Grant’s legs leaving him helpless.

I agree with edman. Although tp is a great game I would think that nintendo would be trying to develop a historic zelda game for the wii. I think the only reason they released it for the wii was to get some sales. I don’t think they thought as highly of the game’s launch as the consumers do. Can’t wait for what’s in store. On a side note I thought I’d express another opinion about the wii. I don’t think for about a year the will be any really good third party games for the system. I think it will take developers a long time to find out what works best with the wii while nintendo has been exploring the concept for a long time.

I hope they still keep the look of TP and not make it look like wind waker… that would be horrible.

Nintendo needs to develop a game where the wiimote gives full physical control. For instance, the master sword ist used by just wiggling the wiimote, its ued as you phsycially use it. Give full control of combat to the player. Same with the shield and nunchuck. This would be especially fresh if it was developed for a star wars game as well. Where you at nintendo? What happened to the Revolution? The wii was suppost to be revolutionary. And even though it is revolutionary on a few plains, its not by much. Full control would change game play to damn near perfect…until full on virtual reality (not virtual boy!!!).

I Totally agree with NYjGGalo full control of movement would be Astronomical in the Game-playing world. Just think of the possibilities. You’re fighting multiple enemies at once and you are surrounded. You”re head to head with one while another comes up from behind. You see it on you screen you parry a sword blow and whip your shield around to block the “would be” stab in the back. But to have a truly realistic fighting experience you would need to have a hard realistic AI. The kind that you swear are actually learning and fight as though they were fighting for their lives. One can only hope. :-)

To add to my previous statement you would still need to have some TP controls for Special moves. I mean it would be hard to roll on the floor in a complete circle to slash some one in back. you would also need certain controls for the Items you get Bow, slingshot, Boots, and spinner if they are in the game of coarse.

Sadly, I just got done watching Nintendo’s E3 press conference, and no really good games were mentioned. Luckily, however, a new Wiimote attatchment was announced that gave full control of movement. I have to say, I was impressed when they demonstrated it in Wii Sports Revolution (yet another mini-game game for the Wii -_-) with a sword fighting mini-game and it
looked pretty good. Hopefully, Nintendo’ll do what they did with Brawl and wait a couple of days to announce a new Zelda game, or as our last hope, make it a surprise.

P.S. I’m not entirely sure how they will do full shield control without a Nunchuck attatchment.

I know I’m late as well, but I’d like to say something to Spaz and Juggalo: Yes, that would be unbearably awesome, but you guys are the types of people who cause video games to suck because they’re too good for their own good. One example is Crysis. It came out in 2006 or 2007 or something, but video cards that can handle it on high have yet to be created.

The full control would be very great, but remember what happened on Red Steel? Everyone says it’s the buggiest game in history.

Now, I’m not against the full control, but we have to KNOW OUR LIMITS and not make Nintendo do something they can’t do without more research.

Well, about the full control… everybody knows Red steel wasn’t the greatest utilization of the concept of “The sword does what you do with the remote,” but bear in mind that with the addition of MotionPlus for the Wii, the wiimote’s actions can be reflected tens of times better than without motion plus. I dare say, red steel would have been a lot better had MotionPlus been around.

About the whole total freedom, however (parry in front and block the “stab” from behind” as nyjuggalo said) is perhaps a bit far. Remember, what made Zelda on the 3D platform so successful was the utilization of the targeting system. Hence, the focus would most likely continue to be on 1 enemy at a time. Nevertheless, sword movements reflecting the Wiimote movement would be a huge step in a good direction.
