Metroid Prime 3: Corruption multiplayer

The Ngamer Magazine released this details about Metroid Prime 3: Corruption:

Corruption’s Coders at Retro Studio’s are determined to take adventage of the Wii’s “always-on” broadband concept, but they havent worked out how yet. If Xbox Live 360′s downloadable updates are anything to go by, you can count on getting at least one bonus level out of it, and Retro is hinting that multiplayer mode might be a downloadable extra for later.

Metroid prime hunters is a great multiplayer, its only natrual to make a better quality and less glitchy one for Wii. I think it should have a multiplayer. Maybe even with in game clans. that would be the best

I agree with sgt.goomba. If they do make a multiplayer for mp3, I hope that they fix some stuff that was screwed up in hunters.

I have to admit that, even though Halo 2 is an awesome game, and Halo 3 is on the way. If Retro Studios can pull the multiplayer off just right and if Nintendo can prevent people from hacking online, then I think that mp3 could possibly be as good or even better than other great fpses out there like Halo 2 Call of Duty 2 and Quake 4

they’d better have mp already built in… I’d hate to have to download an update, because I’m on dialup and that would take FOREVER (assuming the Wii supports dialup).
i just finished a round of mp in MP2:E and it’s really fun…

@ Ravi/Bortch- MP3-C has limitless potential, yes, BUT I strongly doubt that it can surpass Halo 3 in quality and just raw power. And in an FPS, Bungie’s mix of graphics (and in the case of H3 hi-def gaming) and addicting gameplay win out over pretty much all others.

@ Article- I hope it has MP, especially online MP. This game is the entire reason I’m buying the Wii, and maybe SSBB, but that en’t a launch title.

I don’t care a bout the onlinecapabilities. If you have high speed, good for you. It doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun with the System. I mean, can you even PLAY Zelda online? GEEZ!

If there is no mp on MP3 then whats the point. This isnt the past… its the future and making a good single player mode isnt a good enough reason to have a game thats incomplete

Hey most of the guys working on metorid prime are old school quake 2 and 3 level designers. So I’m looking forward to more levels from these guys. Halo was cool.. a lot like goldeye… but hold on I think it’s just the fact the olnie or competitive play makes these types of game better period.
Hey emo who hates every one…. If you have dail up and nintendo doesn’t support it just go and get a netgear wireless router… then you can wifi your wii on to your connection… Most routers let you share the internet connection once your dail up if I remember correctly… But your going to get so Lo0o0o0o0o0o0ong downloads though… Also too doesn’t mcdonals offer a free wifi connect for the ds? Hey there ya go…LOL If you don’t have it already look into adsl also…

That’s really bad… I wanted the Wii especially for the Wii Shop option (N64, Genesis and older downloadable games). But.. hmm.. I could bring it at school and download stuff there? Or I have some friends who have high speed..

As for Metroid Prime, well.. I’m not really a fan of Samus but I think there should be a normal multiplayer (2 to 4 controllers), and for those who have high speed and don’t have friends/brothers/sisters/controllers/whatever could connect on Internet and play against their online friends. Or strangers, it would be like they want.

I love nintendo…i greww up with it, and already have a new nintendo wii raped up under the christmas tree. Im looking forward to MP3 even though it isnt a launch title. However, its going to be one of those….ill buy after i buy this game, and this one and maybe this game too…If it happens to not have a multiplayer mode. I am a strong supporter of nintendo’s revolutionary thinking and gameplay, but just like MDUD said, this is the future. You cant make a FPS without MP so that you can have all those awsome parties with friends. I am praying that MP3 has a multiplayer mode, because if not i will be forced to put it at the end of my games to buy list. Am I insane, or does someone out there agree.

I think they should have MP in MP3… but also, if it will be like it was in MP2, i think they should leave it out… it was rather bland and I got tired of playing it after about five rounds… not enough options and levels. Hopefully with the update system, there will be downloadable maps and other stuff for MP3 multiplayer. Also it got boring beating the crap out of everyone I played in MP2 multiplayer, maybe online play will be challenging! haha

Well if you can get your Wii to someones place with Broadband, then come back home and connect to your dial up The Weather Channel, Everybody votes Channel work.

I cannot get the Opera Browser trial version to work or the news channel.

Mii parade works as well as sending Mii’s to your Wii friends list. I can also email wii friends or anyone else as well.

The Wii shop does not work. And don’t try and update on your dial up connection because it takes hours and hours and hours.

Broadband isn’t available everywhere. However i am not a jerk and would never try and play online with Dial up and ruin everyone elses fun. Hope that info helps anyone stuck with Dial up like me.

I am disappointed!!! X-box 360 runs about as good as any windoze product not well and not complete at first frequently updated until it is finally done. I am a huge Metroid fan and bought the game cube just for the multi player in part 2.

Michael Kelbaugh, President and CEO of Retro Studios, gives us a final update on Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, as well as one bit of bad news: online multiplay will not appear.
17 New Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Screens

GamePro: Will Metroid Prime 3 have any online modes?

Michael Kelbeugh: No. It’s something we talked about early on, but we only have so many resources. We opted to devote those resources to making a better single-player experience.

What are the biggest differences between Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and the previous two Metroid Prime games?

It’s got to be the controls. The integration of the controls with the Wii controller is a phenomenal difference, and a dramatic improvement in the experience as a whole.

How difficult was it to figure out how the controls would work?

When we first saw the Wii controller, our game director Mark Pacini was really concerned about being able to take all the controls we used in Metroid Primes 1 and 2 – because, really, you use every single button in those games – and morph them into the Wii controller. So we spent a tremendous amount of time making that as seamless and as intuitive as possible. And I think we accomplished that. I think we did a really good job , so that you can pick the Remote and Nunchuk up and not be intimidated.

The game has three different control schemes, which are essentially three different sensitivity settings. What was the thinking behind including all three instead of just doing one?

The whole idea behind the controls in Corruption is to make them accessible to any Wii player, whether it’s your 8-year-old daughter or your 80-year-old grandmother. So having the different settings gives us the flexibility to accomplish that, and also giving the player the opportunity to modify their control settings as they get further into the game helped us reach that goal as well.

Did you guys look at control schemes for other first-person shooters for the Wii, and if so, did any of them have an effect, either positively or negatively, on what you guys did?

No. As a rule, we don’t look at other games and make any comparisons. We focused on what we think are the best controls for our games and for Metroid Prime fans. We actually started working on this game’s controls before any Wii games came out and before we had exposure to any Wii games.

What about in more general terms? Are there any other first-person shooters that you think are big influences on this game?

I just can’t say that there are. We really don’t develop like that, so it’s hard to say…

Because to me, there are a certain things that are very Halo-esque about it–like the music.

Yeah. Well, I don’t mean “yeah” in that I agree with you, but I understand where you’re coming from.

One of the primary design objectives was to give this game a more epic feel. You mentioned the audio. Two, three years ago when we started talking about Metroid Prime 3 with Mr. [Kenji] Yamamoto, who’s done the audio for all the Metroid games since the inception; we explained that we wanted the audio to convey a more epic feel. And you’ll notice that it certainly has a much bigger feel to it. There are a lot of horns and big, dramatic sweeps. Mr. Yamamoto really put a lot into creating a much broader, more grandiose feel.

One of other new things I noticed was when you go into the scan visual mode, you can see Samus’ eyes. Was that something that causes any debate amongst the team?

Well, we’ve always held Samus close to the heart, but that reflection is probably the most extensive view of Samus without her suit on that you’re going to see in a Prime situation. But there was no discussion about doing that, it was just one of those things where someone on the team suggested, “Wouldn’t it be cool if….?” And since it was relatively painless, we did it.

first of all, everyone CAN have high speed access, it is just a matter of cost, even though you may not be able to have cable, th ulitimate in my opinion, you CAN have satelite….so, if you have dial up, hahahahahahahah, i did too, in 96, hahahahahah, as far as Multiplayer, it fukin sukz that it doesn’t exzist…come on Prime…it is 07, and the ds has multiplayer….and none on the wii….that is old school, and only Zelda should get the no-on-line free pass!!!

I think that Wiiware would be great for Metroid Prime 3 multi player. Like an extra level. But also who would you play as? Samus, Rundas Gandrayda and Ghor? Some how i dont think so. 4 different coloured Samus’ sound Ok though.

I really want MP3 to have MP. I sure hope Retro Studios/Nintendo are still thinking about it in a way. It really should be an update/wiiware type thing I don’t care. As long as they get it on somehow, even expansion pack would be nice. I personally loved MP2′s MP and to think of all the action in MP3 with downloadable maps would make a dream come true for any Metroid+FPS fan like myself. The back of the case says “Best First Person Controls Ever Made.” If thats the truth (which it is) It needs Multiplayer, thats the only thing this delicious game is missing!!!!!
