In a recent edition of Nintendo Power, there is an interview with Castlevania producer Koji Igarashi. Unfortauntely, he does not have praise for Nintendo Wii. In fact, quite the opposite. Looks like we may not see a Wii Castlevania for a while, folks.
“For me, the Nintendo Wii controller doesn’t yet connect with the core gameplay of Castlevania. I definitely don’t want to make a game with gimmicky controls where you swing the controller like a whip…

Try it Koji!!!
tranclated in to truth that means he lacks imagination or any depth as a games developer BUTTON BASHER DEVELOPER HOW SAD HE HAS NO HONOUR…..
HE CAN ONLY DO D-PAD 2D GAMES wii dont want or need him
before you annoy even more people cubeboy, check your caps-lock
it’s sad to see this but a lot of developers will be slow to catch on, they’ll soon see. Using the work ‘gimicky’ was just asking for trouble though.
the caps part is clearly the part im highlighting DDDDEEEEEEEERRRRRR DUMBO like i just did again
Hey come on guys a 2d castlevania would be so sick! With the power of the wii and the possiblilty of limited wiimote use could add more to the game. It wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg to make ethier and he clearly isn’t a 3d game play master. The 3d versions sorta sucked. Also too devil may cry is stealing his swaggar. Bring out a 3d mega title in 2d and let us use the wiimote like an old nes controller. The core of the game only needs a whip and jump button. I think this is what he is hinting at. And yes cubeboy we do need him. He creates 2d master peaces! Let him make the game how he wants it. If it’s fun then just enjoy it. 2d 3d hybrid games have not been explored enough and most people are not ready for 3d platform adventures.
I say bring back the old school game types along with new ones!
While I can see where he’s coming from (just whipping the Wiimote would not be fun for very long) I think that if he set his mind to it, he could find lots of uses for the remote/ nunchuck combo.
Nunchuck Shake to dodge
Wii remote for weapon/magic/item select
Wii remote to aim long range attacks
Button presses for most actions.
