This is an excerpt from the Review of the Nintendo Wii game Heatseeker by Cubed3
The game itself revolves round a fictional world conflict, mainly set in the Pacific. As such, the majority of the game sees you cruising over oceans and islands, allowing the developers plenty of empty space in which to throw wave upon wave of enemy fighters at you. This they do, and the dogfights, in general, are very well executed and excellent fun. There’s a plethora of planes to choose from, and each one handles slightly differently and can be equipped with different weapons, including air to air missiles and ground attack weapons. All of these weapons are used at some point during most missions, and it feels incredibly involving to simultaneously have to balance weapon selection, altitude, angle of attack, and gun fire all at once. Despite the arcade nature of the game, it’s bloody hard.

This is an excerpt from the Review of the Nintendo Wii game Mortal Kombat Armageddon by AMN
Mortal Kombat: Armageddon won’t convince naysayers or haters of the franchise, but it will satisfy the fans. This is sort of an ultimate collection of everything Mortal Kombat with a fair amount of pros and cons. There’s a huge amount of characters to choose from, an entertaining number of modes to explore (including the surprisingly fun Konquest adventure mode) and an inventive gesture-based control system in place. However, the game’s motion controls can be unresponsive, causing a lot of frustration at times. Likewise, the lack of online play is unacceptable considering the Xbox build supported it six months ago.

This is an excerpt from the Review of the Nintendo Wii game Mario Party 8 Multiplayer Mode by Gonintendo
Mario Party was, and still can be a great series for Nintendo. Put some time and effort into the next version. I know you don’t work alone on these projects. It’s time to put your heads together with Hudson and reinvent the series. Give us some truly new games. Take advantage of the Wiimote and Nunchuck. Expand upon the board layouts and ideas. And finally, give us some damn online play! If there were ever a Nintendo title that screams for online play, Mario Party is it. I am not a huge online gamer, but if Mario Party 9 doesn’t have online play, I believe Nintendo has made a huge mistake. The franchise needs and deserves an overhaul. It’s time to breathe new life into a once innovative franchise.

Hudson and Nintendo really need to rethink the Mario Party formula, but will they? Not as long as these games keep selling, no. Discerning players will find this latest effort still has its moments, but also that they are fewer and farther between. The game includes a robust list of minis, boards and modes and yet you’ll quickly discover that little else has been changed. All of our complaints about previous games – the slow pace, the lackluster single-player affair, the loose attention to detail – all remain and with Mario Party 8 we can add another criticism: ignorance of the Wii remote. True, there are a dozen or more minis that do utilize Nintendo’s new controller in a unique and enjoyable way, but there are dozens more that don’t – that, in fact, were obviously born on GameCube and later ported to Wii with last-minute new motion systems added in. This lackadaisical approach to the franchise sequel bleeds over into the presentation, which doesn’t impress as a GCN effort, let alone a Wii one.
In spite of our issues with the game, people who loved Mario Party 7 will probably enjoy Mario Party 8, too, but we’ve chosen not to reward Nintendo with an undeserved high score for a copy/paste sequel.

This is an excerpt from the Review of the Nintendo Wii game Bust A Move: Bash by Eurogamer
If you happen to see Bust A Move looking longingly at you from among the rows and rows of Wii titles in your local gaming emporium, don’t return its glare. As a cheap, downloadable game, this would be the perfect kind of offering, but as a full-priced boxed game, it’s a bit of a joke to be asked part with this sort of money these days. Remember how it once was in its proud mid ’90s heyday, not what it’s become: a relentless, lazy cash-cow to lure in unwary souls drunk on memories.

Mario Strikers Charged Football is much better than its predecessor, with refined gameplay, extra modes and a new online side to extend the game’s life. However, the same limitations from the original are still there, so those that got bored with the GameCube game should try this one out first before buying. Wii fans looking for a great laugh with their friends will lap this crazy action sports game up, though…

Mercury Meltdown Revolution is, by a country mile, the most accomplished and hugely enjoyable version of this deceptively simple little puzzler yet developed. In addition to WarioWare Smooth Moves, MMR is going to be the game that you use to demonstrate the utter unique genius of the Wii’s motion-control.
This is an excerpt from the Review of the Nintendo Wii game Pirates Of The Caribbean by Aussie-Nintendo
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End is faithful to the movies it pays homage to, yet although it’s a movie tie-in, it goes thankfully beyond what’s offered by its big-screen counterparts. As a game in its own right, it’s a fairly solid production, but one with a little too much focus on just one aspect of the Pirates franchise: swordfighting. While that works in the Wii version’s favour, making suitable and enjoyable use of the controller, things get a little too boring just a little too quickly, and a few gesture recognition hiccups hurt somewhat. There’s loads to unlock, and loads to satisfy true Pirate fans, but there’s just not loads of variety, and the overall story mode will last just hours. Although this version of the game’s inferior to its high definition rivals, it sports an impressive, sweeping and cinematic camera, and brings to life both the characters and locations in graphical quality that’s certainly at the better end of the spectrum in terms of what we’ve seen on Wii so far.

Mario Strikers: Charged Football is a deceptively hardcore little game. While at first it may seem little more than a fast-paced, space-age cartoony kickabout, after repeated play of the single-player and both offline and online multiplayer games, it becomes clear that there is far more depth to the game than, at first, meets the eye. Graphics-wise, while nothing much to shout about, it looks, well, happy and colourful and pleasingly chunky, in the way in which only truly memorable Nintendo characters can.

Of course, like most sports games, Mario Strikers is best played against friends - up to four, with decent Wi-Fi options. The single player game is strong enough to warrant a purchase too, especially as Mario Strikers finally breaks the recent drought of Wii releases. As the most original, admittedly surreal, take on the sport for years, Mario Strikers is a gem of a game and manages to flawlessly meet Nintendo’s brief of appealing to absolutely everybody.
