SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab

This is an excerpt from the Review of the wii game SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab by Cubed3

The game consists of nine levels in total, and considering the ease that you can fly through them, it certainly will not take too long for a veteran gamer to watch the credits roll. In fact, even younger gamers probably will find they do not have too much trouble, considering the game holds you by the hand all the way through. Ever think you are unsure about what to do next? Never fear, because the game either talks to you or brings up text on the screen to not so much hint at the next task, but actually tell you exactly what needs doing. It kind of spoils the whole experience, which is a shame because the core gameplay is tighter than you would imagine. At least there are mini-games and extras to unlock to help get more value for money…

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz

This is an excerpt from the Review of the wii game Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz by Advance Media Network

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz - t’s hard to recommend Banana Blitz as a purchase, simply because of its length. The single-player is the real treat here, even though some mini-games prove to be very fun, but it’s short. There are 8 worlds and each has 8 levels in it. Overall, you’re looking at a 8-hour game. If you’re fine buying a game that’s single-player will be over quickly, then you’re in for some fun. I don’t mean to give the impression that Banana Blitz isn’t a great game. But if you’re looking for a game that’s lengthy and will last you a long time, you won’t find that here.

What you will find, however, is a truly fun, challenging and completely satisfying Wii title that demonstrates why the Wii controller rocks.

Call Of Duty 3 wii

This is an excerpt from the Review of the wii game Call Of Duty 3 by Advance Media Network

Call of Duty 3 - Call of Duty 3, while at times falling short of its sibling versions on other platforms, provides a compelling gameplay experience on the Wii. The controls are not perfect, but they do prove that a nearly pixel-perfect “mouse-and-keyboard” configuration can work on the Wii. After readjusting to the small amount of movement really required, players will be able to move capably through the game and often will be able to accomplish actions more quickly and accurately than a traditional gamepad could ever allow. Aside from the controls, the game itself is a worthy successor in a franchise cherished by many gamers. The presentation is as well done as ever, really throwing gamers into the heart of the war, and the musical score is first class. While the lack of multiplayer, surround sound and a “boot camp” extended training mode are sorely missed, Call of Duty 3 on the Wii should not be missed by any gamer that enjoys shooters and does not own a competing next-gen system.

Dragon_Ball_Z_Budokai_Tenkaichi_2_wii_logo1.jpg

This is an excerpt from the  Review of the wii game DragonBall Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 by 1Up

But the complexity could be a turnoff; the learning curve is stupidly difficult. With such odd controls and radical gameplay, it’ll take beginners quite some time to adjust to the changes. If you’re not familiar with counter and teleport system, it’s easy to feel the game is simply a mash-fest, with a feeling of being underpowered and helpless when the opponent is incessantly pounding your face.

Despite the learning curve, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 is a worthy purchase. Even if you can’t find people to play in the two-player modes, the story mode has enough action-packed content to soak up the entire DBZ legacy, and to keep you busy for a long, long time.

This is an excerpt of the Call of Duty 3 for Nintendo Wii Review by CVG

The only greatly-felt drawbacks of the Wii version is the lack of full 5.1 digital surround which, on the 360 version, is absolutely mind-blowing. And there also seems to be slightly fewer soldiers in the more chaotic gun battles, although not to the extent that the game looses its intensity - even Big Red One on GameCube packed crazy numbers of soldiers so don’t worry too much.

But the most disappointing omission from the Wii version is the multiplayer support. CoD2 on 360 had an awesome multiplayer mode (after they fixed the bugs) and CoD3 has an even better one - but not on Wii. Failing to include any multiplayer support at all - even offline - is a huge injustice for Wii owners.

But Call of Duty 3 is, even without multiplayer, undoubtedly a better game than Red Steel mostly thanks to its greatly superior controls, more varied gameplay, better AI and constantly more intense action from start to finish. The lack of multiplayer stops it from getting a 9, but consider its score to be the highest kind of 8 there is.

Red Steel wii

IGN reviewed the Nintendo Wii game Red Steel and has given it a 6.0/10.

“Red Steel doesn’t live up to the hype. It nails everything except gameplay control, which is absolutely and indisputably the most important factor…the game is not a train wreck, either…Ubisoft has, to its credit, presented some interesting gameplay mechanics complemented by a variety of unique and varied levels and weapons. The shooter is probably much deeper than you think in this regard and it deserves recognition for that accomplishment…Red Steel has a great deal more strengths than it does weaknesses, but its one weakness is a whopper. A few of you will be able to overlook that whopper, but the majority of us won’t.”

This is a Review by GameSpot of the Wii game Tony Hawks: Downhill Jam

Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam starts with a time-tested trick system and an interesting idea on how to reinvent it, but the concept doesn’t come through clearly at all. There aren’t enough different tracks to keep the action fun for long, and while tilting the Wii Remote to steer works well enough, the rest of the control isn’t very good. If you’re absolutely dying to check out a downhill take on Tony Hawk, you might want to try the DS version of the game instead, which offers multiple goals for each level and, yes, online play.

This is a excerpt of the Review by 1Up of the Nintendo Wii game Red Steel

Don’t be fooled into thinking Red Steel reinvents the FPS. It’s nothing more than a ho-hum shooter with a creative but flawed gimmick stapled on. Sure, it might not steal the launch lineup, but at least it proves this type of game is welcome on the Wii.

Nintendo Now published a review about the Nintendo Wii game The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, this is an excerpt of the review:

The video game industry has come a long way since the original Legend of Zelda for the NES. New genres and countless memorable franchises have been born to much adieu. However, throughout the years, Zelda has continued to innovate and set new standards. These standards of gameplay and immersion have made other franchise attempts seem practically “off brand” in quality. To put it bluntly, compare a Pepsi or Coke with your local Dollar store soda. Many games simply just don’t “taste right.” Occasionally, standard bearers stumble. In 1995, Coca-Cola introduced something dubbed the New Coke. The firm remixed the traditional cola formula in an attempt to make it sweeter. Suffice to say the public hated the deviation. ‘Twas a disaster. Coca-Cola quickly gave the public the classic Coke they wanted. Nintendo had a somewhat similar experience when it released The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker in 2003. Gamers didn’t want vast oceans, easy dungeons, and toony graphics. They wanted classic Hyrule: challenging quests and a compelling world. Nintendo has finally delivered on those requests. Twilight Princess not only meets the demands of Ocarina of Time’s legacy, it exceeds them.

Madden NFL 07 Wii

An excerpt from an IGN article:

Closing Comments
As far as launch titles go, Madden 07 for Wii is a very solid first effort. The game includes all the options as the other console versions including lead blocking, create-a-player/team/fan, hall of fame, tons of training sessions including two minute drill and NFL network, and a full-blown franchise mode just to name a few, and throws in an intuitive learn madden tutorial, multiplayer competitions including the amazingly addictive 2-on-2 and Y.A.C. Attack, as well as tons of motion control specifically built for the Wii-mote and nunchuk.

There are still a few issues with kicking and big hits that could be a bit more polished, and the general stigma around Wii is that some people will love it or hate it simply because it offers new gameplay over improved graphics, but the game is simply awesome despite the countless naysayers out there.

Madden 07 offers a faster and more brutal game of football, and the added motion control makes pulling off complex football maneuvers easier than it’s ever been.

The game is constantly offering pointers to newcomers as well, whether it’s in the on-the-fly tutorials accessible at any time during a game, or in the success/failure prompts that tell you instantly if your motion was too early, too late, or dead on.

Madden 07 leaves definite room for improvement, but it’s a tremendous leap in the right direction. If Madden 07 is any indication expect EA and Nintendo to become very, very good friends this generation.
